The Death Note

Demons live to sin. Demons sin to live.     Dr Shyam was the first to notice the corpse of his patient hanging from the hospital room's fan. He was on his usual night rounds. It had been around a week since his patient had regained consciousness. For the last six years or so, he had taken extra care of Ajay Sawant, the comatose body lying in room number 7 of their small yet efficient facility.    His room was in the isolated wing of the hospital as this case was very strange and hence also very important. He was shocked when he looked into the grief-stricken eyes of Ajay. His body was pale and lifeless, there were marks on his arms. On the bed was a note written by the deceased man. Shyam opened it and started reading. ~    Time flies, they say. It did for me. Six years ago I was found unconscious on a river bank near Lanja. I was taken to the hospital and doctors found out I was in coma. A week ago I woke up, since then my body feels numb and ...

A Gift of Evil

We were in Colaba, panic shopping for our friend's birthday tomorrow. Did I just kill a man?     Since the beginning of her journey, Anna was to carry out a simple task, finalize the deal her boss had entrusted to her with much trust and conviction. She could have never believed the turn of events which had unfolded in front of her eyes.    It was raining with full force and the dark night had brought darker possibilities to be true. Anna was running as fast as she could, her sloppy sandals punching the ankle length water on the street, I need to find a telephone. She had left hers behind at the hotel as she quickly ran for her life.    Every shop was closed, it was around 11 pm and there was no sight of any person or cars in the near distance. She kept running, after running for about 5 blocks, she saw a bulb on the right, gathering pace she reached the place. It was a dingy old shop and an elderly man was sitting, his nose buried in a news paper. Anna asked him if there was a telephone in his shop, apparently he ...
